England
We start from England where Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi made his debut for Everton in their 2-0 loss away at Aston Villa in the Premier League. Iwobi was very lively after he came on in the 61st minute and had an effort that came off the post.
The 23-year-old was the only Nigerian players in action in the Premier League over the weekend with Wilfred Ndidi surprisingly missing because of a hamstring injury.
Championship
Going down a division in England, Super Eagles player Semi Ajayi played the whole 90 minutes in West Brom’s 1-1 draw away at Derby County.
Oghenekaro Etebo had a torrid time on his first start for Stoke City this season as the Potters were hammered 3-0 at home by Leeds.
Former Golden Eaglets trainee Ovie Ajaria was on the scoresheet for Reading in their 2-0 win at Huddersfield Town. The Liverpool loanee scored in the 71st minute to give his side the lead.
In Spain
Samuel Chukwueze was in action on Friday but could not do anything to prevent Villarreal’s 2-1 loss away at Levante.
Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo was in action for Leganes who lost 2-1 at home to Atletico Madrid. Omeruo lasted for 74 minutes in his first game of the season.
In Italy
Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong put in a shift in central defence to help Udinese kick off their 2019/2020 Serie A season with a 1-0 home win over AC Milan.
Nigerian fullback Ola Aina was a second-half substitute for Torino who got a 2-1 win at home over Sassuolo.
Flying Eagles midfielder Kingsley Michael impressed in his Serie A debut for Bologna who got a 1-1 draw away at Hellas Verona.
In France
Super Eagles forward Moses Simon had a debut to remember for new club Nantes by scoring their winning goal in their 2-1 win away at Amiens. Simon was introduced in the 73rd minute and 11 minutes later, struck the winner for his new club.
Henry Onyekuru grabbed an assist for Monaco in their 2-2 home draw at home to Nimes. Onyekuru assisted Algeria’s Islam Slimani to score the game’s opening goal and created two chances in his 72-minute appearance.
Nigerian player Samuel Kalu also grabbed an assist for his side Bordeaux who got a 2-0 win at Dijon for their first three points of the season.
In Germany
Super Eagles left-back played the whole 90 minutes as Paderborn were beaten 3-1 at home by Freiburg as they continue to struggle in the Bundesliga.
In Scotland
Newly called up player Joe Aribo played the whole 90 minutes for Rangers in their 1-0 win at St. Mirren in the Scottish Premiership.
In Turkey
Nigerian striker Anthony Nwakaeme played the whole minutes in Trabzonspor’s 2-1 home win over Yeni Malatyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig game on Sunday, August 25.
His compatriot and teammate Mikel Obi came on in the second half for Trabzonspor.
Nigeria U-23 midfielder Azubuike Okechukwu was in action for all the 90 minutes but could not stop Istanbul Basakeshir from losing 2-1 at home to Fenerbahce.

Former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) goal king Anthony Akpotu scored on his debut for Tunisian side US Monastir who beat CS Sfaxien 2-1 on the opening day of the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1.
In Cyprus
Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho kept a clean sheet in his 90-minute appearance on his debut for Omonia Nicosia who got a 2-0 win away at Doxa Katokopias in the Cypriot First Division.
