Members of the Cattle Dealers Association, Imo State chapter, have pleaded with Governor RochasOkorocha to provide them with access roads and ultra-modern abattoirs to smoothen their operations.
This is even as the Master Baker Association in the state has enjoined the state government to install cluster parks for them in Owerri, the state capital,saying that 90 per cent of them are in dire need of the facility.
The businessmen spoke through their president and chairman respectively, HRH EzeOnyeukwu and Edmund Egbuji, during an interactive session with Chief ChidiIbeh, the Special Adviser to Governor Okorocha on Medium and Small Scale Industries, and some industrialists and artisans in the state at Government House,Owerri.
While the mater bakers were insistent on cluster parts where they would distribute their products, the cattle dealers argued that an expanded modern abattoir would spell boom for them and also reduce hazards associated with their business.
Similarly, the Association of Professional Printers of Nigeria (ASSPPON),Owerri chapter, has called for the introduction of printing technology at the degree level in Imo State University (IMSU),Owerri, and at the state owned polytechnic in Umuagwo.
According to Agwu Sunday B.C, the chairman of the association, the measure if adopted would expose the students to the art of printing and thus make them to be gainfully employed.
He also argued that revival of the newspaper mill at Naze would assist to reduce the cost of printing in the state.
In his remarks, Ibeh explained that the exercise was put in place to enable the government to have first handinformation on the challenges confronting them for possible resolution.
He said that his office was a platform to bring them under one roof for the enhancement of their business operations, assuring that the state government provide an enabling environment for them.
The Special Adviser reiterated government preparedness to give Owerri a facelift through its urban renewal programme and called for support from them to the government.
