An indication that Team Nigeria will rule the tracks emerged Monday Morning as all the Nigerian sprinters made it to the semifinals, which will hold later in the afternoon.
They all qualified in style and in good time too. Blessing Okagbare started the good run in Heat 3 leading the pack and returning at 11.53secs in the women’s 100m race.
Joy Udo-Gabriel also led in the Women’s 100m Heat 4, returning at 11.46 seconds. The third Nigerian lady sprinter, Aniekeme Alphonsus ran in Heat 3 and also qualified, but in second position behind South Africa’s Gina Bass whose time was 11.38 second.
Aniekeme Alphosus returned at 11.67 sec. In the Men’s 100m race, it was Nigeria all the way as the three Nigerian sprinters led their respective Heats.
Adeseye Ogunlewe ran in Heat 3 and came first at 10.36 secs.Usheoritse Ese Itsekiri even returned a faster time of 10. 27 to lead the pack in Heat 4. In Heat 5, Raymond Ekevwo ran 11.20 to return the best time of the day.
