Former Director General of the Department of State Security, DSS, Lawan Daura, is the unseen hand behind the travails of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Pointblanknews.com investigation has revealed.
Daura who was appointed as DG DSS in 2015 after Buhari sacked Ita Ekpeyong was unceremoniously sacked in 2018 by Osinabjo while Buhari was away in London for his medical leave.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that Daura is considered a key member of the Buhari cabal and Osinbajo’s sacking of him considered a slap on the Buhari’s political family.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that Daura, working with the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, have perfected plans to frustrate the Vice president, have him resign in frustration or have the National Assembly initiate his impeachment.
According to the sources, the cabal have well-oiled plans to get back at the Vice President whom they feel undermined the political family of the president.
The recent sacking of about 35 aides of the Vice president, the removal of key agencies under the office of the Vice president were all part of the plans hatched and executed by Daura who is said to be operating from the Presidency, a Presidency source told Pointblanknews.com
“Daura has been very active since Buhari won his second term. He has been operating from the Villa most times and has the complete backing of the Chief of Staff. Both are the ones plotting Osinbajo’s downfall,” a source at the Presidency familiar with issues told Pointblanknews.com.
According to the source, the sacking of Daura and some of the decision’s VP Osinbajo took while Buhari was away, distorted the political arrangements and calculations of the cabal and they have vowed to take a pound of flesh.
“They are not forgiven the VP. They are very angry and determined to get back at him. They feel the VP is an outsider who does not understand the ambitions and politics of those who have been with Buhari since 2003.
The source told Pointblanknews.com that while Daura has been tipped for the position of the National Security Adviser, NSA, he is spearheading the plot to get Osinbajo out of the villa.
The spokesman for the Pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, had suggested that President Muhammadu Buhari stopped informing the national assembly about his being out of the country so as not to make Vice President Yemi Osinbajo the acting president.
