The kebbi state director of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Garba Adamu has said that personnel of the agency on routine patrol has put three water factories under seal for producing below the required standard,he added that two water factories were sealed off in Ambursa town of Birnin kebbi local government and  one other in Zauro.

According to him water factories producing package water  in the state come to the agency for ducumentation before any registration as precondition for registration and must bring water sample for taste  and analysis which they send to Kaduna laboratory for analysis and tasting.

He explained that it  is an offence to begin production when the production manager is not around or improper dress of any staff can lead to the sealing of the factories.

He stated that,those who failed to installed coding machines or allow dirty filters risk sanctions which comes after latter of compliance were sent to them and they failed to comply,the agency will fine them or even withdraw their registrations.

On the agency’s fight against substandard or expired drugs he said it has been very remarkable due to sustained campaigns embarked upon to sensitize members of the public on the need for them to protect themselves by refusing to patronise local or unregistered drugs outlets,he said it was possible by the assistance of the NYSC drugs free clubs who campaigns in markets,motor parks and public places and that he said has drastically reduced the risk of buying fake drugs by members of the public.

Garba called on people who wants to register their water factories to come forward for registration saying the guidelines are aleeady online so its easy,for bottle water producers their licences last five years while sachet water factories two years after each has meet the required standards but said that within the lifespan of the license the agency will not hesitate to withraw it if the company violents the laid down rules.

He described the agency’s relationship with their host state as frank and cordial as they carry the agency along on issues related to their primary functions.
