The presidency has raised alarm over refusal of members of the National Assembly who recently returned from overseas to subject themselves to test for the Coronavirus.

In a letter to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, obtained by Pointblanknews.com and signed by  Mallam Abba Kyari, chief of staff to President Mohammadu Buhari, the Presidency described the actions of the lawmakers as “threat to the nation.”

The letter said members of the National Assembly refused tests from officials from the National Center for Disease Control, NCDC, upon their arrival at the airports from their oversea trips.

The Presidency urged the leadership of the National Assembly to prevail on members who recently returned to the country from overseas, to subject themselves to the Coronavirus tests.

Kyari, and the Minister of Power, Mr. Saleh Mamman, on March 9 2020 met with Siemens officials in Germany in furtherance of the deal recently signed by the president and the energy company on improving electricity supply in the country.

It is not known if the Chief of staff and his entourage to Germany ran a test for coronavirus upon their return.

Germany, Europe’s largest economy, has so far confirmed 18,610 cases and 55 deaths from coronavirus.
