Says DPC Already In Court Seeking Cancellation Of The Poll.

The nullification of the November 19, 2019 BAYELSA State Governorship election by the BAYELSA State Governorship Election Tribunal on Monday August 17, 2020 is a welcome development and victory for democracy, due process and rule of law.

The gubernatorial poll was fraught with irregularities, riggings and violence. Thousands of eligible voters were disenfranchised aside the exclusion of the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party from the ballot.

I commend Justice Ibrahim Sirajo-led panel for this for this landmark judgment and urge INEC to start the process of conducting a fresh governorship election in BAYELSA State within 90 days as ordered by the Tribunal.

DPC is ready for the  fresh gubernatorial poll and demands for a free, fair, credible, transparent, acceptable and peaceful election.

The people’s will and mandate must be respected at all timed as sovereignty resides in them.

Democratic People’s Congress worked hard for the 2019 gubernatorial poll but was rigged out. While the party prepared for election, opponents prepared for war that undermined the credibility of the election. This time. DPC will resist reactionary and antidemocratic forces that impede the nation’s political process.

DPC is already in court seeking the cancellation of Senator Douye Diri’s purported election. The matter is part heard in the Federal High Court Abuja.  Diri is sitting on a borrowed thrown and should start preparing his handover noted to a DPC government in Bayelsa State.

I urge the good people of Bayelsa to remain calm as power will soon return to the people who l represent.
