As the world marks the symbolic day for persons with disabilities, the Kebbi State Chairman for persons with disabilities Malam Abdullahi Aliyu Usman has called on Bagudu led administration to turn to its eyes to the physically challenged persons in the state.

Abdullahi explained that, his members across the state are being acutely discriminated in every strata of Bagudu government, he added that no adviser for persons with disabilities in the state which implies that, the ables are representing them when they dont know their problems, he maitained that even in the 21 local governments in the state no single person with disability is there to represent them one who will take their cries to the government and they have succeeded in building a steel wall between them and the government.

He further said that, government care free attitudes to the physically challenged fuelled the escalation of street begging which the northern governors are struggling to put away, he lamented that lots of the disables are talented they only need an enabling environment to bring their expertise, he asked the government to open skills acquisition center for people with disabilities to acquire some special skills for self reliance.

In education sector Abdullahi said a large chunk of his members of school going age are out of school due to government negative attitudes to their plight, he said though there is one school for people with special needs but is located in the state capital excremely inaccessible to people from Ngaski,Sabaka and Bagudo that are far from the state capital to compound the situation even the infrastructure put in place in the school and government establishments in the state are not physically challenged persons friendly.

His words “i want to use this medium to appeal to the governor of Kebbi State his excellency Senator Atiku Bagudu to henceforth include persons with disabilities in his government policies and he should as well ensure that his members are evenly represented at all levels of government he said”.
