The Kebbi state scout commissioner Alhaji Lawal Musa has arraigned 10 persons in a magistrate court in Birnin Kebbi for parading themselves as members of boy scouts,the suspects were accused of writing letters to parents and principals of schools inviting them for a meeting claiming the letters came from the state scout commissioner.

Lawal in a press release said that,such fake members who came from Sokoto,zamfara and other states are not bonafide members of boy scouts and that he does not have any knowledge of the so called letters that was ascribed to him,he described what they did as a blatant act of impersonation aimed spoiling the good image of kebbi state scout movements which he led for well over 40 years.

The state scout leader asked the court to remand in prison custody the suspects pending deep investigation on the matter.

While, disclaiming the imposters Lawal called on parents to be vigilant and not allow their wards to partake in any illegality,he said only registered members are permitted to wear the uniform and take part in the movement’s activities as provided by the constitution of scout movements universally.

The suspects are: Abdulmalik Umar,Haliru Muhammed, Abubakar .M Sani,Abdulmalik Faruk,Auwal Ibrahim,Abdusalam Sabiu,Jamilu Abubakar, Mustapha Aliyu,Sadiq tukur and Hamidu Bello,the letters were written by Abdulmalik Umar who was never a member of the scout, aside claiming membership the suspects attempted to defraud members of the public and some organisation by soliciting financial support from them all in the name of scout movements kebbi state his words”members of the public and corporate organasations are by this notice directed to discontinue any official engagements with those mentioned above, they are not our members and we do not know them” he added that,the case is still in court but adjourned .
