Some residents of Sokoto State have expressed concerned over the continue rise in the positive case of coronavirus in the state.
They called on governments at all efforts to intensify awareness campaign on the dangers of the virus as well as how it can be contacted and avoided.
Doctor Ibrahim Abdulrahim, a Veterinary doctor while speaking with Tribuneonline in the state on Saturday condemned the attitude of some residents towards the virus.
He appealed to residents to always observe all the laid down protocols guiding against the contact of the virus to curtail the spread.
“Our people here thinks government is punishing them when they asked them to wear their face mask especially in the public place.
“If you check all the protocols laid down, even if not for coronavirus, they are all as well good for health living in a society.
“I want to urge government especially the state government to find a way of forcefully implement the safety protocols so as to curtail the spread”
Also speaking, Hajia Ibrahim Fatima, a registered nurse calls on government officials responsible for implementation of policy to brace up on the challenges.
She said the health protocols of observe will be for the benefit of not only the individuals but also to the general public including family members.
Meanwhile, Tribuneonline gathered that between Christmas and and New Year day, the state recorded 100 new positive cases of coronavirus.
Our correspondent who monitored the developments in the state gathered while nine (9) new case was discovered on Christmas day, another eight (8) was recorded on Boxing day.
Also, only one case was recorded on Sunday, followed by seven positive case on Monday as well as twenty case on Tuesday.
While the state recorded zero case on Wednesday, the situation was not the same on Thursday and Friday as another 26 and 23 cases were recorded respectively.
Meanwhile, as at Friday, New year day, the total number of confirmed cases in the state stands at 380, while total number of active cases scattered all over the isolation centres is now 112, and the discharged patients now moves 259 cases.
The total number of tests done so far in the state is now 12,599, while those with negative results is 12,219 and 1,036 results still pending as at the time of filling this report.
The total number of casualties resulting in the death of Covid19 suspected cases in the state also move from 17 to 18, as one more death was recorded in the week under review.
