A non-governmental organisation, Rural women and youth development has distributed relief materials to internally displaced persons and less privileged in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state.
The relief package donated by Irish Government was distributed to different villages of Goronyo local government which includes Rimawa, Keta, Shinaka, Goronyo, Tuluske and Taloka.
According to the one of the official of the NGO Mr. Claude Olowu, the relief materials includes rice, beans, cooking oil, blankets and sweaters.
Olowu noted that 300 adolescents children will benefit from the blankets while 200 sweaters goes to the children and the women were given food items.
He added that the relief materials was donated by Irish aid to help the people affected by flood and banditry as part of conflict and covid 19 situation and it’s impact on Gender Violence, livelihood and food insecurity in Northwest Nigeria.
During the distribution, beneficiaries were taught about negative impact of Gender violence, capacity building on livelihood, nutrition, personal and environmental hygiene among others.
The distribution was attended by representatives from Goronyo local government council.
