Sokoto State Government has confirmed the outbreak of Gastroenterologist disease in one  of it’s boarding secondary school in the state which it said two students of the school had died so far.
The state commissioner for science and technology, Hajia Kulu Haruna stated this while addressing newsmen in her office in Sokoto on Friday.
The commissioner who was reacting to a  news report of outbreak of strange disease at Government Girls College, Sokoto, explained that the state government through her ministry and that of health are working together to bring everything under control soonest.
She said the outbreak affected about seventy students from the school out of which only twenty students were still on admission as at the time of writing this report.
“When the outbreak happens, the governor directed me and the commissioner for health to intervene and bring the situation under control.
“The Commissioner for health immediately drafted high power personnel which includes Doctors and Nurses which has help in massive discharge and only twenty students now remain at the isolation centrer.
“We have so far unfortunately recorded two deaths including one from Bodinga local government and the initial one which is from Rabbah local government”
The Commissioner who was flanked by the principal of the school debunked rumour of contaminated water through borehole, maintained that the state government does not joke with safety of any it’s students in the state.
She said issue of higeine in the school is not being compromised as all the boarding schools in the state is being fumigated as when due.
