….. received covid-19 vaccines

Sokoto State head of service, Abubakar Muhammad, has assured members of Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Sokoto State chapter of his office readiness to support the association in the state.

He described the current leadership of the association in the state as not only good enough for the association but also good for the leadership of Nigerian Union of Journalist in the state.

He commend the leadership of SWAN in the state, which he said it gives him confidence that sport activities will go a long way in the state.

He however prayed that he wishes that one day, the current leaders of SWAN will take over the affairs of state NUJ in future.

He called on members not to be biased in their reportage, saying sport writers should always remember that they report the activities of the majority of the population which are youths.

He called on chairman and other members to understand the sensitivity of their choosing careers.

The head of service recalled that because of his interest in sport, during his working days as journalist at the government house, the then military administrator nicknamed him SWAN, even as not a member of the association.

He called on the association in the state to take their message to the state governor, Rt. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on their mission and programme in the state, which he said is to report the development of sport in the state.

He however promised to look into the report in his office and find a way to make the competition a reality within a short period of time.

Abubakar assured that he will look into the memo submitted to his office by the association and possibly invite the executive members of the association back to fine-tune a way out for a successful competition.

He advised members to always have a spirit of teamwork and work in synergy to achieve better for the association in the state.

He commend members of the association for having initiative which he said is better than that of their parent body, NUJ, in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, Swan chairman in the state, Kabiru Idris Gobirawa, described the courtesy call on the head of service as home calling.

He described the head of service as thorough bread journalist who knows much about journalism in the state beyond expectations.

He further remind the head of service about his pledge to make sport a unified factor to make civil servant in the state more fit than ever.

He explained that the association made similar request to the former head of service which up till his end of his tenure without positive response.

He said the exercise was to make workers fit so as to able to discharge their duties dutifully.

Meanwhile, the head of service Abubakar Muhammad, had on Tuesday received his covid-19 vaccines in his office.

Speaking after taken the first dose, he called on state civil servants to take up the opportunity of the vaccines and get vaccinated against the deadly virus.
