A National Assembly member representing Illela/Gwadabwa federal constituency of Sokoto State, Honourable Abdullahi Balarabe Salame, has condemned the attitude of the state leadership of the party leading to the last Saturday ward Congress.
The three term member of the National Assembly who is also a former speaker of the state house of assembly said the attitude of the acting Chairman of the party Isa Sadiq Achida, led executive may spell doom for APC in the state ahead of 2023 general elections.
Speaking while addressing his supporters in the state on Tuesday, Salame said primary conducted in the state on Saturday cannot withstand any test of integrity.
He accused the leadership of the party in the state of colluding with the delegation sent from Abuja to work for a particular candidate in other to favor him for the party ticket.
According to him, “we are all in APC but it is unfortunate that the leadership of party in Sokoto are doing injustice to the members.
“They are supporting a certain group ignoring the others. I mean the caretaker committee are the people who never respect the Constitution of the party.
“They have violated the entire process and guidelines as stated by the leaders of the party for their personal agenda and to favor their paymaster.
“If you check the guidelines, and compare with the reality of what transpired on Saturday, you will agree with me that they neglected a certain group that bought form, qualified to contest for the ward Congress.
“They also ignored a certain stakeholders of the party in the state who are so important. Take for instance, the speaker of the state house of assembly who is number three in the ranking of the state and the most senior elected member of the party in the state.
“The Constitution empower him to be the leader of the party in the state but unfortunately, he was not consulted for such important activities in the state.
“The entire leadership of the state executive members of the party are ignorant, they don’t know anything, they don’t work with the rules and regulations of the party but only sit down and work for the interest of a particular leader and his candidate ahead of 2023 general election.
“If according to the guidelines of the party in conducting the Ward Congress, Sokoto State has not done any Congress as at today as we reject the so-called Congress in totality” he added.
