Sokoto State has for the second year running got a deserved reward on its efforts to tackle Tuberculosis in the state.
The state was earlier in the year 2020 presented with an award as the best performing state in the country on it fight against Tuberculosis in 2019.
This year award presented to Dr Bello Umar Tambuwal, as the National Tuberculosis programme manager of  the year by the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr Tambuwal, described the award as results of hardwork on the side of his team in getting this done.
He said the recognition will ensure him and the entire team will do more to bring the case of Tuberculosis to a barest minimum in the state by continue to create awareness about the disease.
He commend the efforts of the state Commissioner for Health, Dr Ali Muhammed Inname for supporting him and his team.
He also praised the efforts of the state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, for making health sector as one of the major cardinal point of his administration.
Tribune online gathered that the state Tuberculosis finding case jump from 6052 in 2016 when Dr Tambuwal emerged as the state programme manager to 9268 in the year 2020.
The state is also currently with a discover case of 13,486 between the Q1 to Q3  of the year 2021, a situation which Dr Tambuwal described as house to house case search.
The programme manager however confirmed that not less than 12,405 adults and 1,081 children in the state are currently placed on treatment on Tuberculosis.
He called on general public to take advantages of the over four hundred centers in the state to get themselves tested against the deadly but curable disease.
He further reminded residents of the state that both the test as well as the treatment for the disease is free of charge, hence there is no reason to be left aside by anyone.
He also enjoined the general public not to discriminate against anyone with Tuberculosis case in the state but rather embrace them and encourage such persons to urgently go for treatment at the various designated point in the state.
