The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has called on Sokoto State government for assistance to provide shelter for it’s men in discharging their duties.
The agency also called on all it’s development agencies in and outside the state to come to the assistance of the office following the incidence of fire which razed down it’s office in Sokoto and damage every items including files in the process.
Recalled that the state office of the agency was on Sunday razed down by yet to be identified source which destroyed every available documents and properties in the said building.
Speaking while addressing newsmen shortly after on the spot assessment of the remains of the office complex in Sokoto on Tuesday, the Director legal and prosecution of the agency, Barrister Hassan  Hamis Tahir, described the inferno situation as unfortunate.
Tahir, who came from Abuja office of the agency said the source of the incident is yet unknown but assured that investigations will be conducted to ascertain what exactly is the real cause.
” I am here to asses the level of destruction and damage it caused the agency in the state.
While appealing to the state government for urgent help, the Director also appeal to partners agency to help in the provision of alternative shelter for both the staffs and other occupants including victims and suspects.
“I saw the legal department and all the documents, files and what have you have burnt to ashes. The lawyer was even telling me that they have a case in court on Wednesday and Thursday but now no file to back it up.
“All the files and relevant documents have  all burnt completely”
While expressing his gratitude to the state government, state and federal fire service agencies for their intervention which help in the saving of lives including four victims and nine suspects rescued without any injury.
He assured that the incident will not debar the agency in the fight against human trafficking in the state.
