As the preparation towards the 2023 general elections gathers momentum, the  Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Sokoto State Council, ethics and disciplinary committee has urged members of the correspondent chapel of the union in Sokoto to be fair in their reportage.
Speaking while addressing members of the chapel at their office in Dogondaji on Tuesday, the chairman of the committee, Comerade Abdallah El-Kurebe, described the political class across the country as same.
He called on members of correspondent chapel in the state to be wary of desperate politicians who always like to use press to their own advantage at the detriment of others.
El-Kurebe however warned members of the chapel as well as other practicing journalist in the state that the state council will henceforth be dealt with erring members in accordance with the stipulated laws of the union.
Also speaking, the secretary of the committee, Comerade Garba Muhammed, advised journalist in the state to stay united for the progress of the union.
He warned against those who believes in backbiting or romancing themselves with politician at the detriment of their profession to remain neutral so as to encourage balancing in their reportage.
Earlier in his remarks, the chairman of correspondent chapel in the state, Mallam Habibu Harisu, advised members of the chapel to always put in mind the ethics of their profession.
He called on the Disciplinary committee to as a matter of cautioned, spelt out the punishment of any eering members so as to put them on their toes while performing their respective responsibilities.
Other members of the committee includes Bello Danfulani, Usman Binji as well as Naomi Kogbenda of Vision FM, Sokoto.
