Two presidential candidates for the forthcoming 2023 presidential election, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and Professor Peter Umeadi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), may have considered the possibility of merging both parties as they met in Abuja on Monday.

The meeting is part of political consultations with leaders across the country by the NNPP presidential candidate as permutations and possible alliances by political parties participating in the 2023 general elections continue.
It will be recalled that Kwankwaso has been consulting with eminent Nigerians including
national, traditional and religious leaders with a view to building a new Nigeria anchored on justice, equity, infrastructure, education, industrialization, security, prosperity and abundant delivery of dividends of democracy.
Kwankwaso, a grassroots politician, has met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar. Also, he has held talks with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, elder statesman, Chief Olu Falae, former Governors Donald Duke and Otumba Gbenga Daniel.
NNPP national officers who attended the meeting were the National Chairman, Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali and the Deputy National Chairman, AVM John Chris Ifemeje (rtd).
The leaders reviewed the political situation in the country and the need for free, fair, credible, transparent, peaceful, inclusive and generally acceptable elections that will further deepen the nation’s emerging democracy.
A press release by the National Publicity Secretary, NNPP, Agbo Major, said, “The nationwide consultation continues as the party is poised to win the upcoming presidential election with the support of Nigerians and like-minded political parties.
“From every indication a new Nigeria is possible with NNPP. We are all in it together”.
