A former governor of Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko has explained that the provision of more private hospitals will help improve health sector in the state.
Wamakko stated this while commissioning a private hospital named ‘Foresight Premier Hospitals’ founded by an indigene of the state, Dr. Shamsu Aliyu, on Monday.
The governor who was the Special Guest at the occasion described the foresight of the founder of the health centre as commendable, urging other well meaning individuals in the State to emulate him. He said providing private hospitals in the State will bring healthcare services closer to the people.
He called on the people of the state to patronize the hospital so as to encourage the establishment of more private health facilities in the State.
Wamakko however confirmed that he also had built a private hospital in the state which will soon be unveiled as a way of providing effective health service delivery.
He commended the effort of Dr. Mansur Isah Buhari and Dr. Bashir Muhammad Achida, both from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto on their role towards enlightening the general public to know their rights all the times.
Speaking earlier in his remarks, Dr. Shamsu Aliyu explained that plans are underway by him to establish more hospitals in the zone and the nation at large.
This, he said, was his way of bringing succour to the indigent people in the State.
Dr. Mansur Isah Buhari, from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto stated that the ultra-modern, world class hospital has the state-of-the–art facilities.
He said that the 24-bed capacity hospital has an operation room, pharmacy, labor room, ICU, male and female amenity wards and a recovery room , among other facilities needed for a hospital to be effective.
Dr Buhari said that the hospital would provide about 300 job opportunities for the people of the state.
The commissioning ceremony, which was performed at Mai Kahon Karo Road, Sokoto had in attendance many personalities from within and outside the State.
