Toraze Terrel Davis had just become a husband to the love of his life when his heart stopped, according to a Nebraska news outlet.

He and his new wife, Johnnie Mae, “planned on living the rest of their lives together,” a loved one said in a GoFundMe post. “Unfortunately, Toraze gave his last breath shortly after saying ‘I Do.’”

The newlyweds had finished their ceremony in an Omaha church and went outside to take wedding photos, when at 4:35 p.m. Monday, June 19, Toraze Davis passed out, KETV reported.

His bride had walked down the aisle only about an hour before, as seen in a live video of their ceremony.

“They never made it to the reception,” said Tricia Pugsley, who was supposed to be the DJ for their wedding. “ … They went to the hospital instead. That’s where the bride, Johnnie Mae, had to say goodbye to her new husband. It’s seriously the saddest thing ever.”

A blood clot killed the groom, KETV reported. He was 48, according to his online obituary.

“I’m glad I was able to see you happy for the last time,” cousin DeMeria Marshay said on Facebook.

Now, family and friends are mourning the loss of Toraze Davis while supporting his wife, Johnnie Mae, and their young children.

“Yesterday was suppose to be one of the best days of her life— marrying her bestfriend, her love, her children’s father, her everything,” DaVannis J. Donaldson said on Facebook. “We’ve talked about this wedding, this beautiful wedding for SO long— and yesterday after LOTS of preparation and planning it finally happened … Then POOF.. before her eyes.. and everyone else, hours later— her husband unexpectedly passed away.”

“She’s been widowed and married in a 10-minute span,” Jewel Roberson told KETV.

A visitation for Toraze Davis is being held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at 90th Street Chapel – Good Shepherd in Omaha. The funeral service will follow at noon.
