 Kingsley Dantani, Abuja

Following recent statement by FCT
Administration that it has commenced designing four brand new districts in the Federal Capital City to relieve pressure on outstanding over 100,000 applications for different development purposes in the Territory, the the Abuja original inhabitants youths empowerment organisation, says it has received complaints from indigenes living in these districts over possible Marginalization.

The district includes: Mamusa North, Mamusa East, Parfun North and Parfun South.

While commending the FCT Minister Mallam Musa Bello Muhammad for the creation of the new district, the President of the youths organisation, comrade Isaac David, said that the creation of the new districts will enhance rapid development in the rural communities and further confirm Abuja as the fastest growing city in Africa.

He explained that the compensation of the original inhabitants should not be restricted only to the payment of economic trees on the land, also they should be given some degree of preference and accorded the right of first refusal for a given Percentage of the allocations.

“Considering that these Districts have been their ancestral homes for decades. They have the same rights as other citizens and their economic handicap should not be allowed to work against them in their homeland as this will mean robbing Peter to pay Paul. they are already spoiling for a showdown ur Administration.

Something urgent must be done to avert possible breakdown of law and order in the FCT given that the Government is battling with a plethora of intractable security challenges and need to concentrate and bring all on board for victory”

The youth leader, therefore, requested for an audience with the FCT Minister for dialogue with the leadership of the affected Communities and assuage their nerves.

“The challenge of development in the FCT is an onerous task and nothing should be allowed to derail your trajectory of focused commitment to opening up the rural areas.

Our organization as you are aware Sir is always committed to working with the FCT Administration for constructive engagement with our people.   We negotiated with the affected communities to give us one month to interface with the Government and report back to them.

This is because they believe in our relationship with the Government and the fruits of our past intervention especially the Centenary Project and other resettlement issues” he stated.
