Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in Nigeria on a 72-hour tour aimed at promoting the Invictus Games. They landed in the country after boarding a British Airways overnight flight to Abuja. The flight experienced a slight delay due to the scheduled pilot falling ill, prompting the arrangement of a replacement.

Their visit to Nigeria was extended upon the invitation of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, to interact with wounded soldiers. The couple’s itinerary includes spending three days in Nigeria, engaging with wounded soldiers and their families.

Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis, the Director of Sports at Defence Headquarters (DHQ), highlighted the significance of the visit in aiding the recovery efforts of wounded soldiers, noting that 80% of them have been involved in the recovery program, with a positive outlook on life.

Upon their arrival in Nigeria, Nigerian officials greeted Prince Harry and Meghan at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. They were then taken to a waiting vehicle and transported to their accommodations.

The couple’s first engagement is scheduled at midday at the Defence Headquarters, followed by a visit to wounded soldiers at a military hospital in Kaduna. Afterward, they will return to Abuja for further engagements. This marks the first time the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have visited Nigeria together
