Emirates Airlines has announced its plans to resume flight operations to Nigerian airports from October 1, 2024, after a two-year hiatus. The airline will operate services to Lagos using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, with flight EK783 departing from Dubai at 0945hrs and arriving in Lagos at 1520hrs. The return flight, EK784, will leave Lagos at 1730hrs and arrive in Dubai at 0510hrs the following day.
In a statement, Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed excitement about resuming services to Nigeria and reconnecting leisure and business travelers to Dubai and beyond. Emirates aims to offer unrivaled connectivity to over 140 cities worldwide.
The resumption of operations to Nigeria adds to Emirates’ extensive network in Africa, with 19 gateways and 157 flights per week from Dubai. Emirates SkyCargo will also contribute to bolstering trade relations between Nigeria and the UAE by providing more than 300 tonnes of cargo capacity to and from Lagos every week.
The announcement follows hints from Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, indicating the possibility of Emirates Airlines resuming operations in Nigeria.
