Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed hope and excitement as his team prepares for the final game of the Premier League season, with the possibility of clinching their first English top-flight title in 20 years still alive.

The Gunners, currently two points behind leaders Manchester City, need a win against Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, coupled with City either losing or drawing against West Ham at the Etihad Stadium, to secure the championship.

Arteta shared his thoughts during a pre-match press conference on Friday, saying, “Hopefully something beautiful is going to happen. The only thing that we discussed with the players is that we have to give ourselves the opportunity to live a beautiful day on Sunday, where the dream is still alive and is possible. It’s football, and once we are there, we just have to live the moment.”

Despite the odds favoring City, who are vying for an unprecedented fourth consecutive English top-flight title, Arteta remains optimistic. “We are in the last day of the season playing for the Premier League. The Premier League trophy hasn’t been yet at the Emirates Stadium — the stadium was built almost 20 years ago, so that’s a long, long time. So yes, we have to be very optimistic. We have to do our duties and then wait and see what happens.”

Arteta also emphasized the difficulty of the task at hand, acknowledging the challenge posed by West Ham under the management of David Moyes. “It is really difficult to beat any opponent in the Premier League, and when something is at stake, obviously that task becomes more and more difficult, but that’s not in our control.”

He highlighted Arsenal’s previous struggles against West Ham, saying, “We have suffered this season (losing at home to West Ham), over the last few seasons. It’s really tough to beat them, and I’m sure they’re going to be very at it, and hopefully they can help us to achieve our dream.”
