Pep Guardiola has hinted at the possibility of leaving Manchester City in the near future despite the club’s recent triumph in securing their fourth consecutive Premier League title and sixth in seven years. The Catalan manager, who has a contract with City until 2025, confirmed his intention to stay for at least one more season.

“The reality is I am closer to leaving than staying after eight years,” Guardiola remarked. “We have talked with the club — my feeling is that I want to stay now. I will stay next season and during the season we will talk.”

This statement came after Manchester City’s 3-1 victory over West Ham, where Phil Foden scored twice, enabling City to edge out Arsenal by two points and deny the Gunners their first league title in 20 years.

Reflecting on his time with Manchester City, Guardiola expressed astonishment at their success. “When I moved here, if someone had said I would win six leagues in seven seasons, I would say you’re insane – no way,” he said. “All these players for Manchester United and Liverpool and Chelsea, all these teams. Now is our period. We are part of that.”

Guardiola, who has won 15 major trophies in eight seasons as City manager, has the opportunity to add another trophy with the FA Cup final next weekend. The 53-year-old’s comments suggest that while he is committed to the immediate future, his tenure at Manchester City may be approaching its conclusion.
