The Federal Government has increased its offer in the ongoing new national minimum wage negotiation with organized Labour and the Organised Private Sector (OPS) from N54,000 to N57,000.
According to sources, the government team added N3,000 to its earlier offer to match the OPS offer after a short break to consult. This development comes after the OPS upped its offer from N54,000 to N57,000, while Organised Labour reduced its demand from N615,000 to N500,000.
Despite the progress, the government team is still adamant about its initial offer of N54,000, citing non-availability of funds and the inability of the private sector to pay. However, Labour has been requested to shift its stance in response to the government’s offer, and has complied by reducing its demand to N500,000.
