Operatives of the Abia State Police Command have successfully rescued three abducted children from locations in Anambra and Delta States. This operation also led to the arrest of five suspects, including a Reverend Sister.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chinaka, issued a statement on Saturday detailing the rescue mission and subsequent arrests. The rescued children are Gideon Osinachi (8 years old), Obioma Divine Osinachi (6 years old), and Israel Osinachi (4 years old), who were abducted on May 10, 2024, by an unknown cyclist from Amoba Okoro village in Ikwuanno LGA of Abia State. The cyclist was hired by their grandmother to take them home after visiting her.

Rescue Timeline

  • May 21: Obioma Divine Osinachi was rescued in Ekwulobia, Anambra State.
  • May 23: Gideon Osinachi was rescued in Nkpor, Anambra State.
  • June 13: Israel Osinachi was rescued in Warri, Delta State.

Suspects Arrested

During the investigation and rescue efforts from May 10 to June 13, four female suspects and one male suspect were arrested at various locations:

  • Reverend Sister Pauline Alozie
  • Chizoba DJ (female)
  • Glory Umuna (female)
  • Mrs. Georgina Nonye Okoye (female)
  • Philip Ibe (male)

The suspects were apprehended in Amawbia and Nkpor in Anambra State, as well as in Warri, Delta State. They are currently in custody and will face charges in court soon.

The command expressed gratitude for the collaboration of various stakeholders in the rescue efforts, ensuring the safe return of the children to their family.
