Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has reaffirmed his commitment to offering scholarships to brilliant and qualified students from every part of the country.

The Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF), which coordinates the annual scholarship grants, noted that the implementation of last year’s awards exercise would commence next month.

A press release signed by the Acting Secretary of the AAF, Professor Ahmadu Shehu said that beneficiaries of the scheme last year will have their scholarships activated in the upcoming 2025/26 academic session, while selected beneficiaries this year would have their scholarships commencing in the next year’s academic calendar.

“As the selection took place in December 2024, the scholarships will naturally take effect in September 2025, marking the start of the 2025/2026 academic session.

“A similar scholarship awarded during the 2023 Week of Service commenced in September 2024, with all beneficiaries receiving full sponsorship from the Atiku family.

“The Atiku Abubakar Foundation remains committed to supporting Nigerians from all walks of life, without ethnic, religious, or regional bias,” the statement said.

The statement further noted that the explanation became necessary to address the concerns of last year’s beneficiaries to take note that their grants will be dispatched in the upcoming academic session.

Beneficiaries are, therefore, encouraged to contact the Foundation directly or via email at ahmadsheehu@gmail.com for further information and inquiries.

It would be recalled that last week, the Atiku Abubakar Foundation granted scholarships to three students who did the country proud in different international literary competitions.
