Central Securities Clearing System Plc, (CSCS) is set to host a significant webinar titled “Advancing Market Efficiency through T+2 Settlement” as part of industry-wide engagement ahead of Nigeria’s transition to the T+2 Settlement cycle, scheduled to go live on Friday, 28th November 2025.
The virtual event will be held on Wednesday, 10th September 2025 at 10:00 AM and will bring together the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), alongside the heads of Nigeria’s securities exchanges, underscoring the importance of this market-wide transformation.

The T+2 Settlement initiative, driven by the SEC’s directive, marks Nigeria’s transition from T+3 (trade date plus three days) to T+2 (trade date plus two days) settlement cycle. This move aligns Nigeria’s capital market with global standards, enhances liquidity, mitigates counterparty risk, and strengthens investor confidence.
Haruna Jalo-Waziri, MD/CEO of CSCS, stated “The transition to T+2 is a significant milestone for the Nigerian capital market and a testament to the collaborative spirit of our ecosystem. This shift not only brings our market in line with global best practices but also deepens efficiency, resilience, and investor trust. CSCS is proud to coordinate this journey with the support of regulators, exchanges, and market stakeholders.”
The Settlement Cycle Review Committee (SCRC), coordinated by CSCS and comprising key industry stakeholders, has led a structured multi-phase assessment process to develop a robust implementation framework. The comprehensive report was submitted to the SEC for regulatory review and approval, paving the way for a seamless transition.
The webinar will provide stakeholders with updates, guidance, and clarity on the implementation process to ensure adequate preparation ahead of the November 28th go-live date.
The Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) is a Public Limited Company with a diversified shareholder base, including the Nigerian Exchange Group, some of the largest banks in Nigeria, private equity firms, investment banks and other corporate and individual shareholders. With over two decades of operation, serving as the Central Securities Depository for the Nigerian Capital Market, CSCS has been pivotal to the growth and transformation of the capital market, including its audacious full dematerialization of share certificates and shortening of the settlement cycle in the capital market.
