
Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.23% in the second quarter of 2025, up from the 3.48% recorded in the corresponding period in 2024.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported this in its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Report released on Monday.
It said agriculture sector grew by 2.82% during the second quarter against the 2.60% per cent recorded in the same period last year.
The industrial sector grew by 7.45% from 3.72% recorded in the same period in 2024, while the services sector grew by 3.94% from the 3.83% recorded in the same quarter in 2024.
The bureau said the industrial sector contributed more to the aggregate GDP in the second quarter of 2025 at 17.31% compared to the corresponding quarter of 2024 at 16.79%.
The oil sector contributed 4.05% to the total real GDP in Q2 2025, up from the figure recorded in the corresponding period of 2024 at 3.51%..
The NBS reported that Nigeria recorded average daily oil production of 1.68 million barrels per day (mbpd) in the second quarter of 2025, higher than the daily average production of 1.41 mbpd recorded in the same quarter of 2024 by 0.27 mbpd.
