Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State and former governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of embarking on a campaign of deceit aimed at discrediting the administration of Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
Wamakko made the allegation in a statement issued in Sokoto by his Special Assistant on Media, Bashar Abubakar, where he said the PDP had resorted to “recycling old video clips and reports” recorded more than eight years ago to mislead the public.
He described the move as a “desperate attempt by a party that has lost relevance,” alleging that the opposition was parading outdated propaganda materials as fresh evidence of performance during its tenure.
“The PDP is circulating obsolete videos as new materials to deceive the public and tarnish the image of the present APC-led administration under Governor Ahmed Aliyu,” Wamakko stated.
He added that the people of Sokoto State are already witnessing genuine transformation in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and rural development under Governor Aliyu, insisting that no amount of propaganda could erase the government’s achievements.
The APC leader faulted PDP claims that the previous administration under former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal completed major projects inherited from his tenure, citing examples such as the Asari Water Scheme, Kalambaina and Gidan Salanke housing estates, and several educational institutions.
According to him, the Asari Water Scheme — initiated during his administration to improve water supply to Sokoto metropolis — was abandoned by the PDP government, leaving only one out of 40 wells functional by the time Tambuwal left office.
He also dismissed as false the opposition’s claims about the completion of the Wurno College of Agriculture, School of Nursing in Tambuwal, and the College of Legal Studies in Wamakko, noting that all were projects completed during his administration.
On boarding schools, Wamakko explained that the schools in Shagari, Maruda, and Illela were fully completed before he left office, while a proposal for Sanyinna was never implemented by the succeeding government. He, however, commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for reviving and expanding the Sanyinna project through the ongoing AGILE education programme.
“Governor Ahmed Aliyu is building on solid foundations and introducing new projects that are already changing the lives of our people. The PDP’s recycled lies cannot hide these realities,” he added.
Wamakko urged the people of Sokoto to remain vigilant and not fall for “cheap blackmail and deliberate distortions,” reaffirming the APC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective service.
