
Acting swiftly on the report, detectives from the Gender Desk Office of the Ore Divisional Headquarters were dispatched to the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect.
However, while in custody, Oluwasetire reportedly began to vomit a greenish substance. Upon interrogation, he confessed to having ingested a herbicide in a desperate bid to evade justice for his criminal act. He was immediately rushed to the General Hospital, Ore, where he is receiving treatment under close medical supervision.
The command has assured the public that the case is being treated with utmost seriousness.
A police statement reads: “The minor victim is safe, and appropriate support services are being provided to her family. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will face the full weight of the law upon recovery.”
Reaffirming the command’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, warned that no offender will escape justice under his watch.
He further urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspected cases of abuse, regardless of how minor they may appear.
