Hon. Ridwan Salman, popularly known as Dan Sokoto, has donated the sum of N1.2 million to support community vigilante groups in Afon and other villages within the Asa/Afon State Constituency of Kwara State.

The donation was channelled through the Afon Constituency Elites Association, Lagos Branch, in collaboration with its Ilorin Branch, the body responsible for coordinating development and security-related interventions across the constituency.

The state assembly aspirant also oversees monthly contributions to villages in the area, including Aboto-Oja, Afon and other communities, to sustain local security and development initiatives.

It was gathered that the funds donated by Dan Sokoto were provided to complement the association’s ongoing efforts to procure motorcycles for local vigilantes, with the aim of enhancing patrol coverage, mobility and response time in the communities.

Dan Sokoto, who is seeking to represent the Asa/Afon State Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly on the platform of PDP, said the intervention underscores his commitment to grassroots security and community-driven development. He noted that effective local security remains a foundation for peace, economic activities and social stability.

He further outlined his legislative agenda, which includes sponsoring people-oriented bills and motions, advocating policies that promote education, economic growth and social welfare, as well as programmes focused on youth and women empowerment, skills acquisition and educational support.

Leaders of the Afon Constituency Elites Association and community members commended the donation, describing it as timely and reassuring. They expressed confidence that such interventions would strengthen local security structures and contribute to sustainable development across the Asa/Afon State Constituency.
