As part of his operational visit to 18 Brigade, Nigerian Army, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to achieving elite operational readiness. During the visit, the COAS inspected the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Forces (DHQ SOF) training facility, stressing the Army leadership’s resolve to strengthen special operations capabilities in response to evolving security challenges.

During the visit, the COAS assessed ongoing training of selected Nigerian Army personnel currently undergoing elite Special Operations Forces (SOF) training with the Defence Special Operations Forces (DSOF) Training Group in Bida. He received detailed briefings on the structure, scope and objectives of the rigorous programme designed to produce highly skilled and mission-ready operators.

The COAS commended the DHQ SOF Training Group for its commitment, dedication and professionalism in delivering the demanding training. He noted that the quality of instruction and discipline on display reflected the high standards expected of elite forces tasked with complex and sensitive operations across the country.

Addressing the trainees, the Army Chief urged them to remain focused and give their best throughout the course, stressing that they must be fully prepared to undertake special tasks immediately upon graduation. He emphasized that elite forces play a critical role in national security and must consistently demonstrate excellence, resilience and professionalism.

Earlier, the Commander, DHQ SOF Brigade, Brigadier General Sani Usman Ibrahim, briefed the COAS on the activities of the Brigade and the progress of the ongoing training of Nigerian Army elite forces. The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a souvenir to the COAS by the Commander, DHQ SOF Brigade, marking the significance of the inspection and engagement.
