An aspirant for the Afon Constituency seat in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Salman Ridwan Dan Sokoto, has distributed Ramadan palliatives to residents across communities in Afon, Kwara State.
Dan Sokoto, who is seeking the 2027 ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, said the gesture was in support of party leader, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and other stakeholders in the constituency.
The Chief Executive Officer of Dan Sokoto Transport Global Services provided 10,000 bags of rice to about 1,000 beneficiaries across the constituency as part of activities marking the holy month of Ramadan.
In addition to the food items, the PDP aspirant also distributed cash support totalling ₦1.5m to assist families in coping with economic challenges during the fasting period.
Speaking during the distribution, Dan Sokoto said the initiative was aimed at supporting vulnerable households and enabling residents to observe Ramadan with ease.
He stressed that compassion, charity and community support remain key values associated with the holy month, adding that he would continue to prioritise the welfare of the people.
“I remain committed to supporting programmes that uplift our communities and improve the wellbeing of our people,” he said.
Some beneficiaries who spoke during the exercise commended the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful amid current economic realities.
Residents of Afon said the support would go a long way in helping families observe the fasting period with less hardship.
