Dan Sokoto

A frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Ridwan Dan Sokoto, has intensified his grassroots push ahead of the 2027 elections, meeting with 23 women leaders in Afon and pledging people-focused representation.
The engagement, held on Monday at the Asa Local Government Headquarters, is part of Dan Sokoto’s ongoing consultations across the constituency.
Addressing the gathering, he thanked the women—whom he fondly described as “our mothers”—for their consistent role in party mobilization and community development.
“Our mission is simple: to listen, to serve, and to deliver,” he said, stressing that his ambition is anchored on building trust and improving livelihoods across Afon Constituency.
He urged the women leaders to deepen voter outreach through door-to-door sensitization, expressing confidence that inclusive leadership would ensure benefits for all if elected.
The meeting also served as a platform for the women to air concerns about party structures and inclusivity at the grassroots.
Leaders from Ogbondoroko Reke and Odo-Ode Aboto Oja wards highlighted their longstanding commitment to the PDP and paid tribute to former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki, citing his influence and legacy within the party.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hajia Rasheedat commended Saraki’s leadership but noted that benefits of party efforts do not always trickle down to grassroots members. Despite this, she reaffirmed their loyalty and declared support for Dan Sokoto’s candidacy.
In a move that drew appreciation, the aspirant presented cash donations and two sets of Ankara fabric to each of the 23 women leaders in attendance.
The beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture and offered prayers for his success at the polls, as the race for the 2027 Kwara Assembly seat gathers early momentum.
