The Kebbi State governor Senator Abubakar Bagudu has donated the sum of six million and fifty four thousand (6.34) to 255 trained older women petty traders who hawks perishable items like tomatoes and peppers, the older women who received a month long training on how to go about their business were trained by tomato sellers association kebbi state.
Speaking at end of the training, the state chairman tomato sellers association Muhammad Aminu said the trained old women are mostly widows and divorcees who have little or no means of livelihood are those who received the grant to assist them expand their capital, according to him the monies are free as they are part of government social responsibility.
He explained that, the trained and registered old women each will receive 30,000 as grants to boost the tomatoes business, though some beneficiaries claimed were given only 5000,the allegations he denied adding that, those who were given five thousand are not registered members and didnt receive any training but are actually women petty traders.
He thanked the governor for the kind gesture and urged the beneficiaries to wisely use the monies received.
