
The Federal Government says it is committed to ensuring a timely delivery of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano Gas (AKK) pipeline project within the budgetary allocation and specifications.
Speaking at the virtual flag-off ceremony President Muhammadu Buhari says the AKK project when completed will provide gas for the generation of power which in turn would facilitate the development of new industries.
President Mohammadu Buhari says the AKK gas pipeline project is significant to Nigeria because it will also ensure the revival of moribund industries along transit towns of Kogi , Niger , Kaduna and Kano states including the FCT.
Minister of petroleum resources Timipre Silva says the project will serve as a backbone of gas production in Nigeria.
Apart from that the project, a part of the Trans-Nigeria gas pipeline is expected to integrate the Northern and southern part of Nigeria when completed.
It will also facilitate an additional power generation capacity of 3,600Megawatts.
