BUA Cement PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to community development by investing ₦343 million in various projects aimed at improving the quality of life in its host communities in Sokoto State.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Managing Director of BUA Cement PLC, Engr. Yusuf Binji, emphasized the company’s dedication to social responsibility, highlighting the importance of corporate investment in sustainable development.
The newly commissioned projects include seven solar-powered boreholes to provide clean water, 4,200 pairs of school uniforms for pupils in five primary schools, and 50 solar streetlights installed in Asare village. Additionally, the company provided 25 electric poles and wiring support for Gidan Yaro, renovated five toilets at the Almajiri School in Kalambina, and donated 150 tonnes of cement to support infrastructure development in the communities.
Binji expressed gratitude for the continuous support from the Sokoto State Government and the local communities, assuring that BUA Cement would maintain its commitment to giving back.
“We sincerely appreciate the enormous and genuine support our host communities have provided us over the years. This relationship is mutually beneficial, and we remain dedicated to making a positive impact on society,” he stated.
The beneficiary communities of the solar boreholes include Illela, Gidan Bazamfare, Gidan Maituta, Gidan Gamba, Gidan Baduwa, and the Almajiri School in Kalambina.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State, represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Aminu Dodo Iya, commended BUA Cement for its unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“Your dedication to community development is not only commendable but also serves as a shining example for other corporate entities to emulate,” the governor stated.
With this investment, BUA Cement has once again demonstrated the vital role of the private sector in driving social and economic progress in Sokoto State.
