His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State has received the Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Effiong Akwa, at the Government House, Yenagoa, when he led a team to visit the State.
During the courtesy call attended by the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, the Governor called on President Mohammadu Buhari to immediately reconstitute the Governing Board to enable the governors of the region exercise their role of Advisory Committee as enshrined in the NDDC Act.
While thanking the NDDC boss for the intervention in the construction of hostel facilities in the Niger Delta University, Amassoma, donation of a Coaster bus to the University and donation of four waste disposal trucks to the government, Gov. Diri, called for more synergy with the commission to avoid duplication of projects.
The Governor who expressed concern about the number of NDDC abandoned projects scattered across the eight Local Government Areas, called for partnership in the completion of ongoing Nembe-Brass road and the Yenagoa-Oporoma-Ukubie road.
He also called for completion of abandoned projects such as Polaku bridge, Akenfa bridge, Akakumama- Ekperiama road and Angalabiri – Ebedebiri – Toru Orua Shore protection project.
