The Group Managing Director, GMD of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Melee Kyari has assured communities in Niger, Kwara and Kogi States that they will be carried along once oil exploration activities start at the Bida Basin.

Melee Kyari gave the assurance during a courtsey call on Governor Abubakar Bello in Minna,Niger State.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mary Berje said in a statement the delegation of the NNPC were in the state to unveil the second seismic data acquisition at the Bids Basin.

Group General Manager, NNPC,Abdulahi Bomai who represented the GMD,said an in-depth geological and geochemical studies has shown that there is a strong presence of hydrocarbon indicators that confirms oil and gas in 8 local government areas in Nigeria State and extends to two local government areas in Kwara and Kogi States.

He added that significant progress has been made in the exploration of inland basins progress is being with a realistic target made in the of growing the nation’s reserve to 40 billion by the year 2023.

The NNPC boss,also solicited for the support and participation of state and local government,as well as traditional rulers and community institutions.
