Sokoto State government has expressed it’s readiness to give total support to the management of Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), in it’s quest to build a new standard office in the state.
The state Governor, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, disclosed this while he was addressing the Director General of the organization, Mallam Faruk Salim who led his management team on a courtesy visit to the governor on Monday.
Tambuwal assured the Director General that the state will give every support needed to achieve the building of both the office and proposed laboratory in the state.
He directed the commissioner for lands and housing to look for a befitting land close to the proposed SON office building for the laboratory project.
He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for identify the Director General and bring him back home to Nigeria to raise the standard of Standard Organization of Nigeria.
He said, “I have confidence in you that you will do a lot to do turnaround on SON, as many Nigerians only heard of it by it’s name but hardly feels it’s impact”
Ealier in his remarks, the Director General of the organization, Mallam Faruk Salim, said the team takes Sokoto State as part of it’s major target, hence the choice of the state for the office and laboratory project.
Salim further said the team are in Sokoto to lay a foundation for the construction of their office complex in the state to complement it’s efforts in ensuring standard of products in the state and it’s environment.
He said the state Standard Organization of Nigeria is signing a memorandum o understanding with state governments on how youths can take advantage of booming market in Nigeria for their small scale businesses.
The Director General however appealed to the state government to assist the organization with land in building it’s proposed laboratory to serve the Northern States.
