In a tragic incident, two policemen were killed, and one was injured following an attack by unknown gunmen at a checkpoint in Aba. The attack took place at Opobo Junction along Ikot Ekpene Road, Ogbor Hill, causing widespread panic among street traders, motorists, and shop owners who fled the scene, leaving behind scattered food items such as rice, beans, garri, meat, and vegetables.

This attack comes barely a month after unidentified gunmen attacked a military checkpoint at Obikabia Junction, resulting in the deaths of five soldiers and the burning of their patrol vans.

Following the recent attack, several patrol teams of policemen arrived at the scene as residents deserted the area. As of the time of filing this report, Abia Police spokesperson Maureen Chinaka had not responded to a text message sent to her handset.
