In a chilling turn of events, the vibrant beats of Volcano Hotel’s resident DJ were abruptly silenced by a gang of ruthless armed robbers early Saturday morning. The lively Gwarinpa hotspot, usually filled with music and laughter, turned into a scene of chaos and tragedy as gunfire shattered the night.

Bashir Dauda, the beloved DJ who kept the dance floor alive, was brutally shot during the raid and tragically succumbed to his injuries at the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi, Abuja.

Witnesses recount the terrifying moments when the masked robbers stormed the hotel around 3:35 am, wielding weapons and demanding valuables. Guests, who had come for a night of enjoyment, found themselves in a nightmare, forced to part with their money, phones, and peace of mind.

Sani, a local resident who witnessed the aftermath, described the community’s shock and fear: “We were awakened by the sounds of shouting and gunfire. The robbers took everything they could, leaving us terrified. Bashir was shot and taken to the hospital, but he didn’t make it. This kind of violence is becoming all too common here, and it’s devastating.”

Despite repeated attempts to reach out to the hotel management for comments, their silence remains deafening, leaving many questions unanswered.

Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the grim details, emphasizing the swift response from law enforcement. “We received a distress call at 5:07 am about the robbery at Volcano Hotel. Our operatives from the Gwarimpa Police Division were immediately dispatched and secured the scene. Unfortunately, Bashir Dauda had been critically injured and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. His body has been released to his family for burial according to Islamic rites.”

As the investigation continues, the police are intensifying efforts to track down the culprits. Adeh urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities, promising swift action from the authorities.

This incident is the latest in a series of armed robberies plaguing the Gwarinpa area, casting a shadow over what was once considered a safe and vibrant community. The loss of Bashir, known for his infectious energy and talent, has left a void that echoes far beyond the hotel walls.

The community now mourns a fallen star, as the music that once brought them together becomes a somber reminder of a night that changed everything.
