The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has clarified recent reports suggesting that the renowned musician Burna Boy paid all outstanding medical bills for patients during his recent visit to the hospital. The hospital’s spokesperson, Mrs. Elabha Meni, stated that while Burna Boy did provide financial assistance, it was limited to selected patients and did not cover all patients’ bills as widely reported.

“We commend Burna Boy’s kindness in financially assisting select patients in our hospital to offset their bills during his visit on June 11,” Meni stated in a release on Friday. “However, contrary to reports stating that all patients’ bills in UPTH were paid during the visit, only selected patients received cash gifts or donations.”

Mrs. Meni further clarified that the hospital did not receive direct payments from Burna Boy or his team on behalf of the patients. “The hospital did not receive direct payments from the musician and his team to support this worthy cause of reducing healthcare costs,” she added.

The hospital praised Burna Boy for his charitable actions and highlighted the positive impact of his gesture on the selected patients who benefited from his donations. Despite the clarification, Meni emphasized the importance of such acts of kindness in helping those in need within the community.
