In a colourful ceremony graced by dignitaries from across the country, the former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Muhammad Maniru Dan’iya, on Friday gave out Ikleemah, daughter of Hon. Yusuf Dingyadi, in marriage.
Hon. Dingyadi, a former Senior Special Assistant to the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a prominent chieftain of the party in Sokoto, witnessed the solemnization of his daughter’s marriage to Adamu Yusuf Uba (DK).
The marriage was officiated by Sheikh Zakariyya Imam of Sultan Hassan Dan Ma’azu Jumu’at Mosque, Runjin Sambo, Sokoto, after the payment of a dowry of ₦200,000.
In his sermon, Sheikh Zakariyya urged the couple to view marriage as a sacred trust and a new phase that requires patience, understanding, and mutual respect. He advised them to uphold love and continuously seek knowledge, especially in Islamic teachings, to strengthen their union.
The cleric also used the occasion to call on leaders in the country to redouble their efforts toward promoting citizens’ welfare, security, and unity, describing such virtues as essential for sustainable development and good governance.
In his remarks, the bride’s father, Hon. Yusuf Dingyadi, expressed deep appreciation to guests who graced the occasion. He advised the couple to nurture mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence as the foundation for building a strong and prosperous family.
The ceremony drew a large crowd of well-wishers, including former deputy governors from Kaduna, Kebbi, and Katsina States, serving and former commissioners, special advisers, academics, Islamic scholars, community leaders, and political associates of the Dingyadi family.
