The Abia State Police Command has denied that a first class traditional ruler from Bende Local Government Area was arrested and detained by the Police .

This was contained in a statement issued by the command in Umuahia denying a said story by an online publication, not The New Narrative.

The statement reads, “This publication is not only fallacious but malicious aimed at discrediting the State Police Command and divert attention in her efforts toward nunraveling those behind the killing of a herder’s 15 livestock on January 31at Ogboko Ozuitem in Bende Local Government Area.

The traditional under reference has expressed embarrassment and displeasure over the publication as well as series of phone calls he has received on this development.

Abia State Commissioner of Police Janet E. Agbede has called  on the public to disregard the publication and enjoined social media handlers and print media practitioners to always embrace investigative journalism to avoid spreading fake news.

In addition, the traditional ruler has disclosed that he was neither arrested nor detained by the Police rather he had some of his subjects invited by the Police over the killing of the livestock and that they were subsequently released”.

There was a report that former chairman of Abia State traditional Rulers council, Eze John Akaliro had been arrested by the police with three other traditional Rulers from Bende council area.

The story said they were arrested in connection with their involvement over a clash between herdsmen and farmers at Ogboko Ozuitem.

The said clash was as a result of cows which  destroyed farms which made the farmers to kill several cows in the process.
