The Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) is seeking collaboration with Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NIDCOM) for the establishment of branches in some countries abroad.
The Chief Operating Officer of ANAN, Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammed stated this when the Association visited the Chairman/CEO, NIDCOM, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who was represented by Engr. Dr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, Secretary, NIDCOM in Abuja. The Chief Operating Officer, ANAN, explained that as a professional body, ANAN’s impact will be felt more if branches are established outside the shores of Nigeria.
Mohammed added that ANAN has already contacted a professional accountant who is also a fellow in USA and wants to help them set up a branch in the USA.
“But it is wise for us to discuss with NIDCOM to use your good office to achieve this purpose based on the law of USA, the law of Nigeria especially on the law of the ANAN branch opening”.
Dr. Mohammed said that the aim was not just to open a branch in the USA but hopes that NIDCOM should give ANAN the enablement to establish offices in other parts of the world.
He also appreciated the prompt response of NIDCOM to issues that concern Nigerians all over the world, urging them to keep up the good work.
Responding, Engr. Dr. Sule Yakubu Bassi, Secretary, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, assured ANAN representatives of NIDCOM’s maximum support in actualising its purpose.
Bassi said that NIDCOM is set up primarily to engage meaningfully the over 17million Nigerians living abroad and as such will be happy to collaborate with ANAN provided the branches , if established, will impact positively to the Nigerian economy.
While commending the success of ANAN so far, Bassi said that he wants Diaspora accountants that will impact on its training programs and also urged the association to key in to the NIDCOM’s programmes like the National Diaspora Day, Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit to see how the association can participate actively.
A six- man committe was constituted to work out the modalities for ANAN-NIDCOM partnership.
