The management of Abia State College of Education Technical Arochukwu has pledged to partner with the alumni of Aggrey Memorial College to sustain the legacies of foremost Nigerian educationist, Dr Alvan Ikoku.
Provost of the institution,Dr Phillips Nto made the pledge when the Alumni association of Aggrey Memorial College, Arochukwu paid him a courtesy visit.
Dr Nto said the late educationist who founded Aggrey Memorial College decades ago deserved to have his legacies preserved.
The Provost said he had often wondered why old students of the college had allowed some of the landmarks to go into ruins.
He noted that since his assumption of office five years ago,he had endevoured to transform the Infrastructural base of ASCETA because it was sharing the same environment with Aggrey Memorial College.
He expressed appreciation to the alumni for deeming it fit to rehabilitate some of the landmarks in the college including the burial site of the elder statesman and the gateway to the college.
He promised the assistance of ASCETA to the alumni since according to him, whatever good that comes to Aggrey will overflow to the institution.
Earlier, the chairman of the Board of Trustee of the alumni,Sir Dave Imoko told the provost of their intention to rehabilitate some of those landmarks this year.
Sir Imoko who praised Dr Nto for the monumental transformation he had achieved in the college solicited his assistance to realise the projects.
He said the alumni was proud of the graduates of ASCETA since Dr Nto took over as provost, and urged him to sustain the hardworking.
