The newly elected Deputy Rector (Adminstration) of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Dr. Henry Diko Koce has been urged to use his wealth of experience to ensure the provision of better services to the institution.

Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Abubakar Dzukogi made the call during the official presentation of the letter of appointment to the new Deputy Rector at the institution’s Council Chambers. Dr. Dzukogi described Koce as a level-headed administrator, adding that has the ability to work under pressure and turn in result promptly.

The rector urged him to improve on the qualities for the good of the polytechnic. “These are some of the qualities that endeared you to the management”, said Dzukogi.

He added, “We hope that you will keep up these qualities and even possibly improve upon them”.

The rector, therefore, charged the deputy rector to hit the ground running in consolidating the gains of his predecessors.

His words: “as you are coming in, work is already waiting for you.” The rector said further, “Your appointment came at a critical period. We are expecting accreditation either from NUC or NBTE and you have to finish that assignment. I wish you best of luck.”

He noted that the new appointee would still oversee the Directorate of University Affiliations in addition to his job schedules as the Deputy Rector, Administration.

Dzukogi also expressed gratitude to other members of staff of the polytechnic for their support for his seven-year-old administration.

Responding, the new deputy rector who is an alumnus of the polytechnic expressed gratitude to the rector for finding him fit to be nominated for the election that brought him to the new office.

He explained that his nomination might have been connected to his performance track record when he deputized the rector while he held sway as the Director, Directorate of Continuing Education some years ago.

Koce promised to work with the rector and other stakeholders to move the polytechnic forward, adding that he would live up to the expectation of the management and staff of the institution.

“I started here as a student, as an instructor, as a chief lecture and today I have risen to this position. I think it is an encouragement to some of us who went through the polytechnic. I assure you that I am not going to fail you,” he stated.

Koce is currently the President of the Polytechnic’s alumni association, and the Director, Directorate of University Affiliation.
